Yep, you heard right, shade will be using a custom engine built from scratch.
This task will be accomplished with a new member of the team, nex666. A fantastic programmer, and hopefully a soon to be the proud core programmer for Shade, of which this new engine would not be possible without. So you all better thank him like you've never thanked before A great big welcome to the team Nex ^^.
Okay, now for the details and some explanations of how this will go about. With some direction from myself, Nex will be programming the core engine for Shade, of which I hope to work alongside with him as best I can so I can understand the engine almost as well as he can, allowing for an easier development direction of this huge feat. It will be built from the bottom up, starting with the server, then to the engine from your character creation to battle system to housing systems, and the rest. Progress will be made and there will be multiple alpha beta's within the development team. I can't host the server myself however, hopefully someone on the team or a good friend somewhere will be able to take this on. I have got funding for a server dedicated to the project, but only enough to start funding 6 months into the project, probably as a closed beta starts.
With an engine built from nothing, we will be able to have exactly what we want (except for free printable/edible ice creams, that technology still isn't possible). Videos of course will be taken as progress is made, along with posted game updates at intervals worth mentioning in detail.
Of course with this new direction for the engine, there are many advantages feature wise, etc, as we aren't held back by how much we can edit, because it's all being created. But there are some worries, like how long it will take, how much work will be required, etc, but I'm confident enough that if anyone can do this, nex666 will make us proud, and I'm sure with all your support he will work with even greater passion towards a completed engine ^^. Which brings me to another good point, as this project will now be completely independent from other sources, it will make advertising at least more versatile, as there isn't a worry about posting in a forum that has had arguments with a previous engine, or any disagreements etc, it will all be from nothing so ;3.
So everyone, I'd like you to give a supporting welcome to the team, nex666, and some inspiration for him to pull up steady with the development of our engine.
Welcome nex666
P.S. If you want to post feature suggestions in the forum and suck up to him to get them into the engine, now is the time xD. |
